Gerold Stout is the owner of Stout Law Firm. He focuses his practice on matters involving estate planning
(Wills, Trusts, Advance Directives, Power of Attorney), taxation (including real property tax appeals and
tax sales) and corporate counseling. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Stout worked for a mid-sized law firm in
Northwest Indiana for fifteen years. Mr. Stout previously served as a lieutenant with the Lowell, Indiana
Police Department, and is a retired 20-year veteran of the force and served the Lowell community in a
variety of capacities, including as a member of the K-9 unit, competition pistol team and instructor of new
police department recruits and patrol officers.
Licensed to practice law in Indiana, Mr. Stout is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and Lake County Bar Association. He is also a past president and Charter member of the Lowell Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 186, serving approximately 10 years in the role of president. Mr. Stout currently serves on the Pension Board of the Lowell Police Department, and previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Lowell Public Library. He served as President of the Lowell Public Library Board of Trustees for four terms. Additionally, Mr. Stout is a member of the Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Lowell Lions Club and Lowell Rotary.
Mr. Stout received his law degree in December 2001 from Valparaiso University School of Law, where he was listed on the National Dean’s List, was recognized in the Who’s Who of American Law Students in 1999, 2000 and 2001, and was recognized in the International Who’s Who of Public Service in 2002. He received his undergraduate degree, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Criminal Justice, from Purdue University, Calumet in 1996.
